A chemical in kelp can slash fat absorption by 75 per cent

Scientists in Newcastle this week said a chemical in kelp can slash fat absorption by 75 per cent and they are looking at including it in foods such as bread to create new diet products.

Hot chilli sauce: burns calories, studies suggest, and the hotter they are, the greater the effect. Antioxidants in fresh chilli also can help protect your heart.
English mustard: studies suggest mustard, can gradually increase the rate at which your body burns calories.

Green tea: can slightly raise the meta-bolism and increase calorie burn by around 80-100 a day and contains plenty of healthy antioxidants, which help the body fight cancer.

Protein: the body uses more energy digesting protein than it does when taking care of carbohydrates or fat, also boosts such feel-good chemicals as serotonin.
